DuPont 4 Bedroom - 1472 Kincaid St | DuPont

first impressions

Rush Construction built a limited number of homes in Palisade Village, and this plan, The Versailles from their Hunterwood Garden Collection, is my absolute favorite. With an open layout, two living spaces, a wide kitchen, and four bedrooms, The Versailles has everything. This particular home faces southeast on a corner lot surrounded by colorful foliage. It’s a special place.

about the home

Windows on all four exterior walls imbue the main level with natural light. Late afternoon sunshine peeks through leaves to greet windows on the west facing side of the house, turning the second living room into an inviting space to wind down after a long day. A cozy, gas fireplace helps chase away the chill on cool mornings and evenings.

Throughout the lower level, 9’ tall ceilings add to the feeling of space. Warm oak hardwood floors stretch from the entry, down the hallway, and through the kitchen and breakfast nook, where a sliding glass door opens onto the extended patio. Indoor and out combines with ease.

A wide kitchen sits at the back of the home with stunning blue cabinets, a white subway tile backsplash, and gleaming white and gray quartz countertops. Plenty of cabinets, counterspace, and two pantries keep needed items within easy reach for simple food prep and effortless entertaining. The kitchen looks out over a breakfast nook and the more informal living room while a passageway on the opposite side leads to the formal dining room and living room.

Upstairs, a  peaceful primary suite offers views of colorful foliage and the perfect niche to curl up with a good book. The primary bathroom was refreshed in 2020 with cabinet paint, a quartz countertop, and new hardware and fixtures. Across the hall, 3 additional bedrooms and another full bathroom, refreshed in 2020 as well, await.

In preparation to list, the home was pre-inspected, a brand new roof and water heater were installed, the HVAC was serviced and inspected, and repairs and routine maintenance were performed to prepare the home for new owners.

a little about the community

DuPont is a vibrant community that sits near the border of Pierce and Thurston Counties. Its location and proximity to I-5 make it desirable for people that work on neighboring JBLM and people that commute to Tacoma and Olympia. Adjacent to the Puget Sound, with mountains and state and national forests all around and the ocean an hour and a half away by car, all the beauty and adventure of the Pacific Northwest sits within easy reach.

A rich history graces the area including, among other things, the Sequalitchew Nisqually people, Hudson Bay Company, the production of explosives and munitions by E.I. DuPont de Nemours Company, training maneuvers for Buffalo Soldiers and 5 National Guard units, and gravel mining. Fort Nisqually once stood here, and seeds from the remains of the Fort Nisqually apple orchard were used to create a new orchard a few years ago. During the fall, apples from those historic trees dangle off of young trees.

The town’s 10,000 residents are the only active members of the community. Local wildlife can be observed. Depending on the time of year, residents have the opportunity to watch deer graze, coyote pups play, and an array of birds preen.

DuPont’s town center offers places to stay, eat, shop, and do business. The city is home to an award winning golf course, multiple parks and green spaces, an off-leash dog park, and over 12 miles of trails. For more information, check out the recent DuPont blog, Living in DuPont, WA.

looking for a fun day in the area

Start the day at the new Military Family Store Starbucks on Station Drive, a store dedicated to supporting and employing military veterans and family members. Then, head two exits down I-5 to the Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge. The freshwater of the Nisqually River flows into the Puget Sound at the refuge, and the River Delta provides habitats for diverse wildlife.

Back in DuPont, there are numerous options for a sit-down lunch, but if you’d like a quiet setting or a change to grab and go with ease, try Mince Mercantile. I recommend following up with a trip to Bliss Small Batch Creamery. Then, spend the afternoon shopping at Pine & Moss and 27 West. Before you head home to prepare dinner, pop into Forward Operating Base Brewing Co for growlers of craft beer or cider.

On Saturday, head to Powderworks Park at 9am to join the flagship chapter of wear blue: run to remember to honor fallen service members and walk, ride, or jog the 3 mile route, passing by Patriot’s Landing and greeting the residents that come out each Saturday to cheer on participants and hand out water and dog treats.
